Salone del Mobile 2018 – Where interior veterans meet newcomers

One city, 2.000 exhibitors and more than 300.000 visitors: The Salone del Mobile lives up to its name as the world´s biggest furniture fair again. Exciting exhibitions, design events, innovative installations and young newcomers turn the Salone del Mobile to a highlight event for all interior lovers. Our CFC Team is one of those lovers and visited the fair in Milan.

The big ones

For 57 years famous designers from countries all around the world come to Milan, the city of international fashion and design to show their latest interior creations. An international melting pot for iconic designers and design brands.

Interior Trends 2018

As we walk through the many design districts of Milan and the fair, we discover a lot of different design styles. For sure color is back from powder tones to bright red purple and yellow.  A strong retro tendency is interpreted through graphic prints, velvet and many handcrafted materials cater to the demanding customer searching for quality and long lasting designs. Marble and steardy or soft leather is an ongoing trend also interpreted by Poltrona Frau or Paulo Mendes da Rocha.

A chance for young designers

Not only the big names get the chance to be part of the famous fair: The Salone Satellite is the first platform for young and unknown designers and takes place parallel to the Salone del Mobile since 1998. One of the youngsters Studio Marfa & Schmitz consisting of Janis Fromm, Florestan Schuberth and Simon Schmitz are proud to exhibit their latest creations, for example the “Soma” chair with gentle leather and the innovative lamp “Return”, in the environment of the famous interior designers. For Studio Marfa it is not the first time in Italy. As winners of the „ein&zwanzig“ competition organized by the German Design Council 2017 in Tortona and after presenting their collection in the Isola Design District in Milan, they are welcomed guests in the country of design and pasta.
